Everything worked as advertised. Hooking it up was a snap. I already had DVD burner software that came with my Sony camcorder. It works seemlessly. This is a good product for a good price.

Summary : GREAT BUY!
I READ THE REVIEWS ON THIS PRODUCT SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE PURCHASING. ALSO WAS WAITING FOR THE PRICE TO GO DOWN FROM WHEN I FIRST LOOKED AT IT. I TOOK IT RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX AND USED IT. I DID NOT USE THE CD THAT CAME WITH IT, NOR DID I READ ANY INSTRUCTIONS THAT CAME WITH IT. NOW I HAVE TO TELL YOU I AM A GRANDMA WHO IS NOT TECHNICAL SAVY IN ANYWAY SHAPE OR FORM BUT THIS WAS A PIECE OF CAKE TO USE!! I BURNED 3 CDS RIGHT AWAY WITH NO PROBLEM. I PLAYED A MUSIC CD WITH NO PROBLEM AND WATCHED A MOVIE DVD WITH NO PROBLEM. SOUND ON MY NETBOOK IS NOT THE BEST BUT I SUPPOSE THAT IS TO BE EXPECTED WITH SOMETHING SO SMALL. I DID NOT HAVE TO DOWNLOAD ANYTHING OFF THE INTERNET TO PLAY THESE AND HAVE SOUND AS SOME PEOPLE HAVE SAID IN THEIR REVIEWS. THAT WAS ONE OF THE THINGS I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT WHEN READING THE REVIEWS ON THIS PRODUCT, WAS THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO DO ALL THESE THINGS TO MAKE IT WORK-BUT NOT FOR ME! Summary : Does not work with Windows 7
Unfortunately, I purchased this external drive with a Dell Mini because that was what was recommended. However, I still have not been able to use it because the Nero (the program that came with the drive) will not download on my computer and therefore it will not work. I contacted the Nero company and they said the Nero 8 version (or anything older than that) is not compatible with Windows 7 unfortunately. So, if I want to try to purchase an upgrade to Nero 9, it will work. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any other tips for me? If I can figure out Amazon's return policy, I will be sending it back. It is just a real hassle that I don't feel like dealing with! However, I would like my daughter to be able to watch DVDs on the computer with some sound. The DVD will play after awhile, but no sound comes out. I know it has to do with the external drive too because I can get other sound off the internet, etc.

Summary : Works fine but the loading door is very flimsy.
only issue is the loading door is very flimsy and needs two fingers on both
sides to close. Other than that is quiet and works well.

Summary : Great DVD Drive
This device has worked flawlessly. I did not even need the driver disk that came with it. I just plugged it in and Windows 7 Starter version recognized the device, installed the needed files itself,and I was off and running. No problems what-so-ever. It is connected to a Gateway lt2030.
